Oil Flow Resumes Through Libya’s Sharara-Zawiya Pipeline
Libya’s National Oil Corporation said crude oil flows through the Sharara-Zawiya pipeline had resumed after Valve No. 7 was reopened, allowing production and pumping operations to gradually return to normal.
Oil shipments have resumed through one of Libya’s key energy corridors connecting the Sharara oil field with Zawiya.
The National Oil Corporation said Valve No. 7 on the main pipeline operated by Akakus Oil Operations was reopened on September 26 following joint efforts involving relevant authorities.
Technical teams then began the process of safely restoring production and pumping operations.
The valve had previously been closed by an armed group, interrupting crude flows from Sharara to the Zawiya terminal.
The NOC had warned that the shutdown was affecting production, reducing state revenues and threatening operations at the Zawiya refinery.
NOC Chairman Masoud Suleiman called for oil installations to remain outside political and local disputes, stressing the sector’s central role in Libya’s public finances.
