Uganda Moves Closer to First Oil as Kingfisher Processing Facility Reaches 99 Percent
Uganda’s Kingfisher Central Processing Facility has reached 99 percent completion, with pre-commissioning activities already underway as the country prepares for commercial oil production.
Uganda’s Petroleum Authority said construction of the Kingfisher Central Processing Facility had reached 99 percent as the country moves closer to first oil.
The facility, operated by CNOOC Uganda, will play a central role in receiving, separating, processing and preparing liquids produced from wells in the Kingfisher Development Area.
Pre-commissioning work has already begun.
The Kingfisher field is one of Uganda’s key oil development areas in the Albertine Graben.
Once fully operational, the processing facility is expected to handle around 40,000 barrels of oil per day.
The Ugandan government considers the start of commercial oil production a major component of its wider economic and infrastructure development plans.
